Scout Centre: Kylian Mbappé Lottin

AGE: 18

Bursting onto the scene with his stellar performances this season, Mbappé has had a breakout season. The 18-year-old has amassed an incredible 19 goals in 32 appearances – including back to back goals in the Champions League en route to knocking out Manchester City. The versatile attacker looks set for a promising career, but with many of the big clubs beginning to take note of his rapid rise, it may be difficult for Monaco to keep their French starlet.

Primarily used as a winger, Mbappe has explosive pace and quick feet. His pace off the ball always him to drift away from defenders with ease and possesses sound technical ability when dribbling at speed. He has however, been wasteful at times this season with the ball at his feet completing just 32% of his take-ons this season – albeit, he has time on his side to improve this.

His keen eye for goal shows a maturity beyond his years and combine that with his natural predatory instinct, you can see why the Frenchman has become somewhat of a star at Monaco – breaking Thierry Henry’s goalscoring record for youngest goalscorer at Monaco, scoring his first goal at just 17 years old. But it’s not just his goalscoring antics that make him such a valuable part of this Monaco side, his unselfishness greatly benefits his team – notching up 5 assists this season in Ligue 1.

Mbappe is without a doubt in the form of his life at the moment, and the plaudits are certainly going his way. His impact this season has been nothing short of sensational and his performances will no doubt continue as Monaco look to challenge for the Ligue 1 title, as well as looking to progress further in the Champions League. Mbappe may not be the key to his sides successes this season, but his impact cannot be under looked. Monaco will have a fight on their hands to keep the young winger at Stade Louis ll.
