CLUB: EINTRACHT FRANKFURT (ON LOAN FROM REAL MADRID)
CURRENT ABILITY: ★★★★
POTENTIAL ABILITY: ★★★★★
When you think of great Spanish centre-backs your mind might flicker to images of Fernando Hierro, Sergio Ramos or Carlos Puyol – but it’s now time for the young generation and boy do Spain have plenty. One of their top talents is currently plying his trade for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, on a season long loan from Real Madrid.
Jesus Vallejo came through the ranks at Zaragoza before being snatched up by Real Madrid in 2015 – a ball playing centre-half with bright future ahead of him.
An assured defender, with a fantastic reading of the game, Vallejo is your typical multi-skilled defender. Capable of putting a foot in when needed but also showcasing his ability to play with the ball at his feet, the young defender has shone during his time in Germany – racking up an impressive 21 appearances so far this season. Comfortable playing the ball short or spraying long rage passes, Vallejo would be well suited to any top tier side with a possession play style.
Although openly admitting his chances at Real Madrid may be limited, the Spaniard has not let that effect his performances and with the season drawing to a close there may be a few suitors wanting to pry him away from the Santiago Bernabeau.
