Summer signings. Key Premier league transfers.

The premier league may be coming to an end for this season, however the race for the 4th place may well go down to the wire. Manchester City currently occupy the 4th sport but with 5 games to go they are only 7 points ahead of 5th and 6th place. The climax to the season is proving to be mouthwatering.

Thinking ahead to next season though let’s analyse who the top teams should be aiming to sign this summer to challenge again for next season.

Chelsea–  With the side currently topping  the premier league table and seemingly on their way to another title under José Mourinho, it is difficult to see where they need improving. A new goalkeeper will have to be bought as it looks likely that Petr Cech will leave for first team football. Rob Green is on the cards as an experienced back up to Courtois. They have however moved for young Brazilian midfielder Nathan who could an interesting acquisition. Aaron Cresswell could also be bought in, with Filipe Luis not having the sort of impact Chelsea fans wanted

Arsenal– They are on a brilliant run of form, which have seen them become title contenders. A key game against Chelsea at the weekend may decide the fate of the title. Arsenal need to sign Sami Khedira. It is that simple. The German international would give some much needed physicality to an Arsenal midfield which desperately needs it. Saying that Coquelin has stepped up and preformed very well in that role this season. Failing Sami Khedira, Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho would also be a top signing.

Manchester United– Currently sitting in 3rd place, United will be very happy with their  display during the second half of the season, overtaking rivals City who seemed to be challenging for the title. Some key signings United need to make. Memphis Depay is on United’s radar, and he should be regarded as a definite purchase. He would give something United lacked for most of this season, pace upfront. Equally as important United need to make a move for Mats Hummels. German international could leave Dortmund this summer and United need to add some experience to their back line. A new right back is also needed with Dani Alves being top of Van Gal’s list. A busy summer for United indeed.

Manchester City– A brilliant start to the season has seen City falter towards the end, dropping points and finding themselves now in a battle for 4th place. Some changes need to be made if they want to push for the title again next season. Yaya Toure may well be on his way out this summer, which will mean City will need to rethink their gameplan, with Toure usually playing a pivotal role in their success. Nainggolan of Roma should be bought in as a replacement should Toure leave. The versatile Belgian midfielder is highly sought after, playing well for Roma this season. Another Belgian Midfielder in Kevin De Bruyne may also be on the cards for Manchester city. The dynamic young Wolfsburg midfielder could be a key driving force in a City midfield. With both Jovetic and Dzeko seemingly leaving the club too, a move for either Gonzalo Higuain or Mario Gomez could give City a formidable front line.

Liverpool– Liverpool have had an interesting season. A poor start, then saw them go on a fantastic run over Christmas. However knocked out of the FA cup, 4th place seems to be their last chance to get something from this season. Liverpool need a striker. Balotelli’s poor form all season coupled with Daniel Sturridge’s ongoing injury problems has meant Rodgers side lack a real cutting edge. Jackson Martinez, Edinson Cavani are two strikers Liverpool should really look into signing. Both big men posses brilliant finishing ability and would give any premier league defence a headache. Should Raheem Sterling decide to leave Anfield, Ezequial Lavezzi should be first through the doors. The tricky winger has the pace and skill to get into good areas and make it count.

Just some of the key signings that could be made this summer, and we hopefully there will be plenty more. The thoughts of deadline day deals are already starting to surface.
